Prayer & intercession for Thailand at Pattaya’s OneWay Church

Learning to read is one of the first steps toward freedom…

Radical Love’s story began as Amy Brock-Devine had responded to the call that God gave her when she cried out to the LORD after first setting foot in Pattaya, Thailand in 1999:

I couldn’t believe what I had seen. “Somebody has to do something about this!”

“I did do something,” I heard Holy Spirit clearly. “I created you.”

It was after midnight and we had been in Pattaya a few days. We thought we were on a young people’s excursion in a typical dance club on our company’s holiday. In this internationally-known beach town over Thanksgiving, at 26 years of age, I left crying non-stop from that disguised brothel. I travailed in snot-ridden tears, sobbing profusely the entire night. Seeing women, seeming as young as 14 years old, inside the club and the groups of children outside the clubs on the streets. A veil was being torn from my eyes. This was my introduction to a dark secret in Thailand. Anti-trafficking organizations estimated Pattaya, Thailand, knowingly hosted 27,000 people prostituting and children-exploited every night during low-season. That number jumped to 47,000 nightly in the high tourist season.

Thailand suffers, still in some areas, as a third-world nation as a result of poverty and injustice. It has generations who have never known the True Love of God, 99% never truly living in revelation of the Messiah giving His life that they would be redeemed. Less than 1% of the Thai population would declare themselves Jesus-followers. Besides not knowing they are accepted and loved by the Father, fatherlessness in the homes is an epidemic. They need to know the Truth, generations feel abandoned and long for a change or they will duplicate this cycle of abandonment. We see that educating, equipping and empowering — are foundational ways to stop the cycle.

So many prophetic words were given to Amy about what God has intended for Thailand. One vision Father gave Amy, was of puzzle pieces of tragedy coming together. These pieces were pictures of the abuse and abandonment that had happened in her past and the forgiveness, overcoming of guilt, shame, and condemnation that had prepared her to understand and empathize and bring authority with what she was now being faced with. Now God revealed the box-top. What she saw is this big picture of what Jesus was doing to bring His presence, His peace, His healing, His restoration, His kingdom come in Pattaya, as it is in heaven. Through people who had been broken, who the blood of Jesus made whole. A Kingdom family that honors and glorifies Jesus in every way and loves people radically and unconditionally.

For Amy Brock-Devine, like many on the RLA team, surrender to Jesus was the first step. She describes it this way, “When I trusted Jesus completely and actually began to follow Him, it was radical. Like Peter in Luke 5. I got filled with Holy Spirit and immediately knew my life was about to make a radical change.

“… So that year I sold (or threw away) nearly everything I had and moved into His calling to follow Him wherever He went. He called me overseas, first to Argentina, then Brazil, then China, Australia, all to prepare me for now, starting schools in Thailand. And every year after that more of His fire burned inside of me. I began my now 25-year old radical covenant with God in a love journey … And I tell you … He has NEVER STOPPED loving!”

The burden to see the lives of children transformed has grown. Since arriving in Thailand, full-time in 2009, and aligning with other teams & ministries, Pattaya City has completely transformed. Prostitution, trafficking and exploitation has nearly come to a halt in this previously small fishing village turned tourist attraction. But now with the pandemic and its effects lingering, the city and its need for transformation has grown to include deep economic growth. As the issue of injustice is often the cause of poverty, there is a huge economic need.

As Bill Johnson, in Born for Significance, said, “Money doesn’t fix the problem of poverty. But poverty also can’t be fixed without money. Only those who rightly use their God-given authority can solve the issues of injustice.” The need for kingdom education in Thailand with children knowing their identity, authority and destiny has not changed. The 2 schools in Thailand and the one in the US that RLA has helped to launch are growing, with a third project with the Thai government developing.

Amy and the team, however, have also taken another trajectory. Growing the economy through business development. Educating, equipping and empowering business people and entrepreneurs while partnering with an international consulting company. Now partnered with Southwestern Consulting, Amy and the team will operate as coaches, trainers and speakers internationally to elevate sales, develop leadership and grow businesses through ethical Kingdom principles and curriculum.

He has called us to be restored as His children. God has asked us to be a part of His ministry of reconciliation of the world to their Father!

Our staff, volunteers, Thai Leadership Board and US Board:

We are more than honored to share with you the exciting news of our US partnership! The incredible growth that we have been experiencing in Asia combined with the growing concern for education and renewing the mind in children and youth has allowed us to take a step of faith on supporting another school in the US, The Decker School. That and the ability to work remote we have partnered with a US team from nearly coast to coast.

Our Radical Love Global Team — from Shelton & Spokane, WA; Salem, OR; Peoria IL; Athens, TX; Rogers & Little Rock, AR — became its own 501(c)(3) in 2023 with our US home office in North Little Rock, Arkansas!
